ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT

The Department of Applied Sciences was established in the year 1981. The Department offers Courses in Sciences and Humanities to the 1st year students of the BE program. In addition, the Department offers Mathematics, Managerial Economics and Accountancy courses to the second and third year students of the BE program. The present intake of students at the first year level (in the branches of Civil, CSE,ECE,EEE,Mech, IT,Automobile) is 870. The Department has a team of 41 well qualified, committed and experienced teaching staff with 12 Doctorates. The department infrastructure spreads over two blocks with well-equipped Physics, Chemistry, English and Computer programming Laboratories. The aim of the first year instruction is to equip the students to apply the knowledge of basic sciences and humanities in understanding the core engineering subjects. Besides the primary job of teaching, the faculty have been publishing research papers in several reputed national and international journals and also have authored several textbooks.
