The Department of Information Technology was established in the year 2000. The department offers UG programme in Information Technology which is a fusion of Computer Science, Electronics & Communications. The department has three sections for the under graduate program with an intake of 180 students (plus lateral entry students) per annum. There are well qualified and experienced faculty members. All the faculty members are post graduates and some of the faculty members are doctorates in Engineering. The department is accredited by National Board of Accreditation (NBA) in 2007.

 

The department has well equipped labs to meet the needs of the Information Technology applications. There are well qualified and dedicated non- teaching staff to support the students in the laboratories. The department also encourages internships under various industrial organizations. The Department is periodically updating its curriculum to stay relevant to the current Industrial Needs.

 

The department is conducting various workshops and conferences to appraise the students and staff with the emerging technologies in the field of Information Technology. The students of the department are getting placed in the reputed IT companies. And those who are aspiring for higher studies are getting admissions in top listed universities in USA and other countries.

 

The students are encouraged to participate in the co-curricular activities being conducted by professional bodies like IEEE, CSI, ITSA and ISTE. The MVSR Engineering College IEEE student branch has laid its foundation from the Department of IT.Our IEEE student branch has bagged two International Awards and two State-level Awards. The students and Faculty of IT played a key role in achieving these awards. The department has a Students’ Association (ITSA) which organizes activities such as quiz, extempore, mock interviews, debates, seminars by alumni, guest lectures and technical fests. ITSA also organizes training programs to bridge curriculum gaps and to cover the topics beyond curriculum. The students are also motivated to organize and participate in social and extra-curricular activities.
