Department of Applied Sciences & Humanities, established in the year 1981, the Department serves as the foundational pillar of engineering education, bridging the gap between core sciences and professional engineering disciplines. The department provides comprehensive instruction in Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, English, and Environmental Science to the first-year students across all engineering branches.

Currently, the department has an intake of 1020 first-year students across various branches including CIVIL, CSE, CSE-AIML, DS, IOT, CSE-IT, ECE, EEE, MECH, and IT. With a team of 39 experienced and dedicated faculty members, including 26 doctorates, and 11 supporting staff, the department is committed in fostering analytical thinking, scientific reasoning, and effective communication skills among students.

These essential competencies not only aid in academic success across engineering disciplines but also contribute to the holistic development of students. Our mission is to promote curiosity, critical thinking, and a strong ethical foundation, empowering students to become responsible and innovative professionals in a rapidly evolving global landscape.

In addition to academic instruction, the department plays an active role in enhancing soft skills, promoting interdisciplinary learning, organizing a variety of workshops, seminars, and value-added programs that enrich the overall student’s experience.

The department houses well-equipped laboratories for Physics, Chemistry, English, MATLAB and Computer Programming, located in both buildings of the department to ensure ease of access and optimal learning environments.

Beyond teaching, our faculty members are actively engaged in research and publication, contributing to national and international journals of repute. Several faculty members have also authored textbooks and contributed to NPTEL courses by demonstrating their commitment to academic excellence and lifelong learning.
